Zipcar.com is a car sharing organization.  With car sharing potentially adopted by 10% of the population that takes  millions of cars off the road.  Car sharing has also proven to save individuals money and keep that money in the community.  If one shared car can replace 10-20 cars that means people are left with more money in their pocket and less fuel is burned.  This is not yet in Albany, but if you are interested email zipcar.
