"Tap" is a project based in Albany, N.Y. to educate and persuade citizens of Albany to reduce their carbon footprint by refusing bottled water and utilizing the city's municipal water supply. We urge citizens to drink their award winning water, save money, save the environment and support the local community by using tap water for hydrating needs.
In many parts of the world there is no clean drinking water but in the U.S., drinkable water flows out of most taps. Despite acces to cheap, clean water, Americans buy a staggering amount of bottled water, spending over $15 billion a year. The transportation, treatment and delivery of bottled water contributes significantly to global warming. Bottled water consumption is growing at 10% a year. That's faster than any other beverage! We drink fifteen times more bottled water today than we did in 1976.
